Dynamoflex!

I was lifting with my friend today and he kept thinking “isometric” meant to move through a natural range of motion.  I corrected him and he asked what the opposite of isometric was.  I said dynamic (though I suppose isotonic might have been the word he was looking for).  He said it needed an exercise buzzword, something catchier and more exciting, and so made up the word “dynamoflex” on the spot.  And for the rest of the workout he would not stop talking about dynamoflex, and how he was going to patent the “dynamoflex method”, and make up a lot of other buzzwords for quite mundane and run-of-the-mill exercise modalities to go along with it (taking a drink of water would be the “hydro rest phase” or HRP).

The worst thing about of all of this nonsense?  Knowing how the fitness industry works, I’ll be damned if he doesn’t make a million dollars off of it.
